In vivo animal models are essential indicators in validating the mecanism of human diseases and drug R & D. To overcome the disadvantages of previous animal models, zebrafish, with advantages in developmental speed, cost, offspring number, optical transparency, and highly-homologous genome to humans, has now become a popular animal model in basic, applied, and clinical research.

Since receiving support from the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2010, the Taiwan Zebrafish Core Facility at the National Health Research Institutes has continuously provided various training courses and fish strains, achieving remarkable results and nationwide recognition. In order to expand its services to academia and industry, we established the "Zebrafish Industrial-Academic Technology Platforms for Medicine and Health" in 2017, offering one-stop services and advanced technology development. Subsequently, with support from the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2019, the Taiwan Zebrafish Core Facility merged with the Zebrafish Core Facility at Academia Sinica, transforming into the "Taiwan Zebrafish Technology and Resource Center." It now provides services such as gene knockout fish, transgenic fish, drug screening, and toxicity testing, and also expands to offer resources and educational training programs for the zebrafish community.

In recent years, we have also provided environmental medicine-related testing, such as using zebrafish eggs for detecting environmental hormones (TG250) and ISO15088 zebrafish egg acute toxicity testing for wastewater. In order to strengthen the industrial link, and provide higher quality and more impartial testing, we applied for and successfully obtained testing laboratory ISO17025 accreditation for the ISO15088 testing in 2022. With continuous support from the National Science and Technology Council in 2023, we will utilize past experiences and resources to offer a wider range of related services for users to choose from. We will also develop new service items to align with scientific development trends, facilitating the growth of the overall research community.
